Who are you?

I’m Laura Steves. I’m a Child Welfare Consultant, Prof at U of P, and serve as Chief Mom Officer of Mommy’s Company. I enjoy sharing information and ideas with entrepreneur Moms everywhere.

I want to know more about you:

Currently, I reside in Keller, Texas-a North Texas suburb which provides a plethora of things for our family to do. I am married to my awesome husband Kent of 14 years, and have two beautiful little boys ages 7 and 4.  We also have a Brussels Griffon named Wicket Warrior (in honor of the Ewoks) and a Persian cat named Smokey.

Do you like books?

I’m reading the last installment in the Harry Potter series and The Tipping Point for the second time, and several children’s books to my kids daily.

Who is Mommy’s Company.com for?

This online magazine and radio show is for women who are currently practicing the fine art of running a business while caring for their offspring.

There are lots of Work-at-Home websites, what makes MC different?

Mommy’s Company.com is a great resource for contemporary Moms who need encouragement and support in their venture. MC will nurture the specific needs of Moms who own businesses by providing insight, advice, podcasts and articles relevant to business and motherhood.

Ok, so why did you decide to take on Mommy’s Company.com?

I am passionate about my two biggest roles in life: Mommyhood, and business ownership. I believe the two can work well together when the person is nurtured and guided, and when solid support is offered. Mommy’s Company affords all of us Business Savvy Moms, a community of ongoing personal and professional development. It’s one of the best resources out there for Moms, and I am blessed to be your Chief Mom Officer!

Do people like you?

As a person, I believe so! But, yes, people like MC, too! In 2007-2009, ABC News referenced Mommy’s Company.com as a top resource for entrepreneur moms. We are also a partner with Good Morning America’s Women For Hire Network.MC has also been cited in numerous online media sources.

What do you do for fun?

Family is first in my book. I am very close to my Mom and Dad, my in-laws and all of my extended family.  I play light sabers with my boys, chase them around the house, practice yoga, enjoy our community waterpark, read, hike, love to cook, travel, watch movies, and enjoy spending time with my husband Kent.

I also enjoy helping Moms grow their businesses and make their dreams come to fruition.

My mission and vision are that every Mom who visits Mommy’s Company.com will leave inspired, and ready to take on the challenges of being a Mom and a business owner.
